$ 17M Ticket Sales MANNY PACQUIAO vs. OSCAR DE LA HOYA is Boxing's Second-Biggest Gate

The Golden Boy continues to have the golden touch.

Oscar De La Hoya's welterweight showdown with pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao on Dec. 6 sold out almost instantly after tickets went on sale Wednesday.

Organizers announced that all of the approximately 16,000 tickets to "The Dream Match" at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas (HBO PPV) sold out for a gate of almost $17 million.

The total makes De La Hoya-Pacquiao the second-biggest gate in boxing history, surpassed only by the $18,419,200 worth of tickets sold for De La Hoya's fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. on May 5, 2007.

The total surpasses the $16,860,300 generated by the 1999 heavyweight championship rematch in Las Vegas between Lennox Lewis and Evander Holyfield, promoters said.

It means De La Hoya will be a part of four of the top 10 gates in Nevada history; his bouts with Felix Trinidad and Bernard Hopkins are also in the top 10.

"This is just a reflection of the overwhelming interest in this mega-event and we are extremely delighted that tickets sales were so swift," Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer said. "The matchup is one of the best in boxing and will be one of the biggest events the sport has ever seen."

Bob Arum, whose Top Rank promotes Pacquiao, said, "This is fantastic and shows the magnitude and appeal of this event. When you have two superstars like Manny Pacquiao and Oscar De La Hoya fighting each other, the public is going to respond, and that is what they just did. No one wants to miss this one."

In addition to the arena, Arum said, there would be approximately 33,000 closed-circuit tickets available in Las Vegas priced at $60 and $100.

"It's a hot, hot fight. People will be screaming for tickets," Arum said. "How many fights that people go crazy about do $17 million, all in? But this fight is at $17 million and that does not even include the revenue that will be generated from the closed circuit, the pay-per-view, the foreign [television] sales and the sponsorships."

With Golden Boy, Top Rank and the MGM taking large chunks of tickets before the public sale, only a few thousand tickets were available.

The fighters will commence a six-city national media tour beginning Oct. 1 at the Statue of Liberty in New York. Other cities on the schedule are Chicago, Houston, San Antonio, San Francisco and Los Angeles, with most of the events open and free to the public.

MANNY PACQUIAO is Dead Serious on His Training for the Oscar De la Hoya "The DREAM MATCH" - Avoids Fans & Friends with Viral Flu

Even the Pacman isn't invincible when it comes to the viral flu. He said he is appealing to his friends and fans not to come near him if they have coughs and colds for it may transmit to him thus jeopardizing his chances of beating the Golden Boy. It only goes to show that the Pacman, Manny Pacquiao is indeed dead serious on his training for his upcoming and most important fight on December 6, 2008 against the popular boxer in current times, Oscar 'The Golden Boy' De la Hoya.

God Bless Us All.

JUAN MANUEL MARQUEZ vs. JOEL CASAMAYOR AFTERMATH Quotable Quotes - Prelude to MANNY PACQUIAO vs. JUAN MANUEL MARQUEZ III

The Marquez victory over Casamayor is just too little too late to merit a second look from Team Pacquiao. The mathematics in a Pacquiao-Marquez trilogy just does not seem right at the moment. Thus, Marquez is not in the immediate future sight of Pacquiao. In fact, some reports indicate that “Pacquiao is finished with Marquez.”
- By Ed de la Vega, Philboxing.com

Marquez became the lightweight champion by taking on one of the best fighters of his generation, Joel Casamayor, a borderline Hall of Famer who just a few months ago scored one of the best wins of his career, and knocking him out for the first time.
- by Tim Starks, mvn.com

Marquez will be left out in the cold in spite of his brilliant win over Casamayor and a raise in his stock. Too bad, but Marquez is simply too little, to late.
- By Ed de la Vega, Philboxing.com

Not only is Pacquiao-Marquez III the most important fight in the sport, it now promises to be better even than I can hope.
- by Tim Starks, mvn.com

Marquez is not in the cue unless of course the Golden Boy can offer an insane amount on money to force a Pacquiao-Marquez trilogy because as the crowd showed last night, he too can not draw people to fill up an arena. (Last night’s crowd was just over 7000)
- By Ed de la Vega, Philboxing.com

I don’t mean to get all Star Wars here, but “search your feelings”: Do you (Pacman fans) really know that Pacquiao is better than Marquez? Isn’t there at least a question?
- by Tim Starks, mvn.com

McCain is envious of the youth and energy of Barack Obam. JM Marquez is jealous of the youth and energy of Pacquiao.
- by Michael Marley, Boxingconfidential.com

In a more objective vein, because Oscar De La Hoya and Ricky Hatton are bigger names than Marquez, there will be boxing commentators that don’t make a very big deal post-Marquez-Casamayor about how much boxing needs Pacquiao-Marquez III. If they know the sport very well, though, they should.
- by Tim Starks, mvn.com

McCain is envious of the youth and energy of Barack Obam. JM Marquez is jealous of the youth and energy of Pacquiao.
- by Michael Marley, Boxingconfidential.com

There is little doubt the great little Mexican who improved to 49-4-1(36) last night, and who has never been stopped, will be engaging in some super fights to come. Being the proven best lightweight in the world, Marquez has earned the right to face whoever he chooses.

MANNY PACQUIAO vs. JUAN MANUEL MARQUEZ Fight III To Be Promoted by Manny Pacquiao

“No problem. Anytime. But he must agree to my offer because I will be the promoter. If he agrees to a small offer, then it means he’s really interested. If he fights for a bigger purse, then it’s just for the money,”
by Manny Pacquiao, referring to Juan Manuel Marquez who stopped Joel Casamayor in the 11th round yesterday to snare the Ring lightweight crown
source: Philstar.com

Manny Pacquiao will be the promoter for the upcoming Manny Pacquiao vs. Juan Manuel Marquez 3rd match-up if only Juan Manuel Marquez would agree to a lesser payday. Shades of Oscar De la Hoya, Manny Pacquiao doing a Golden Boy stint as a shrewd businessman. Manny Pacquiao's fight with Oscar De la Hoya in December would enrich the Pacman even more thus having the muscle and power to promote the Juan Mauel Marquez 3rd match-up. I think JMM's desperation and quest for Pacman's blood would agree on a lesser payday, it's not really about the money as JMM thinks, it's about the chance to prove to himself and to the whole world who's the better fighter. Obviously Manny Pacquiao has nothing to prove because he had already defeated JMM twice considering the judge's error in scoring their first bout.

The Manny Pacquiao vs. Juan Manuel Marquez III is inevitable because not only that's what JMM wants but that's what boxing fans wants and craves for. And for Manny, it's just another day's work at the

CHARICE PEMPENGCO Meets CELINE DION in OPRAH (Sept. 9, 2008), Invites Charice to Sing Duet in Madison Square Garden Next Week - Pics & Video

Filipina singing sensation and YouTube discovery Charice Pempengco guested again in Oprah when she met Celine Dion via video conference, September 9, 2008. Here's that video...

"Hi Charice. Hi sweetheart. I have to tell you that I am speechless, to start with--and it's not a good way to start--I have, hmm, I have heard you sing. I have seen some, a little bit of your life story. And I am extremely ecstatic like the rest of the world who is watching right now. I can tell you that we have lots of things in common. And I also had a mother, still have a mother, who is my strength. My passion I carry in my heart. And so my beauty. And David Foster, you cannot even think of finding somebody even better than that to bring the best out of you. You have more talent than most people."

These were the words of a mother with a seven-year-old son who spoke to 15-year-old Filipina singer Charice Pempengco during an episode of Oprah. Charice, who has been the toast of music lovers all over the world, has probably heard similar praise before.

The difference is, the mother speaking via video conference from Washington, D.C. happens to be Celine Dion.

"You can sing. You can speak and sing with your heart. You can play the guitar... And you can have dreams because your life story is quite a painful one. Thank God your strength comes from your mother and your heart will go on and I'm pretty sure of that.

"And if I may I would love to propose something. I would love to do something very special with you. Next week, I'm gonna be singing at Madison Square Garden and I would love to ask you to come and sing a duet with me. And we can sing together. Maybe we can sing "Because You Loved Me", and maybe we can dedicate this song to your mother. So I hope you can travel and come in New York to meet with me," Dion told Charice.

MANNY PACQUIAO Now 154 lbs. Just Like The Video Game PACMAN with Uncontrollable Gobbling For the Oscar De La Hoya Dec. 6, 2008 Fight

Manny Pacquiao aka the Pacman, just like its video game counterpart Pacman, is currently gobbling up all sort of food to bulk his weight up for the upcoming Oscar De la Hoya fight. He is now 154 lbs. but he said he could easily make the 147 lbs. on the agreed weight limit 1 day before fight night. I just hope Manny Pacquiao's sudden weight increase won't diminish his punching power.

More than seven years from that time in 2001, here we are doing battle with boxing's biggest star, the Golden Boy himself. I like my chances even if I am the underdog and in my mind, I know how to defeat him.

God Bless Us All!

Apl's BEBOT by The Black Eyed Peas - MUSIC VIDEO Featuring 2nd Generation Filipino-Americans including JASMINE TRIAS & Adult Industry's CHARMANE STAR

BEBOT (Generation 2) by BLACK EYED PEAS *ENGLISH CAPTIONED*
Video by skunkz01

"Bebot" is a song from The Black Eyed Peas' 2005 album Monkey Business. The title is a Tagalog slang word which means "hot chick". A music video was shot and released independently in 2006.

In a similar fashion to "The Apl Song", which appeared on the group's 2003 album Elephunk, the song is rapped solo by apl.de.ap as a tribute to his childhood upbringing in the Philippines. However, in contrast to the first song's somber tone, "Bebot" is an uptempo song designed to be played at parties and clubs.
The term "Bebot" is Filipino slang for "pretty woman", "hot chick", "hottie", "baby/babe". The music video for Bebot features primarily Filipinos, Filipino-Americans, and several other Asian ethnicities from the Los Angeles area (Korean Americans, Japanese Americans, Chinese Americans, Thai Americans, Indonesian Americans, Vietnamese Americans, etc.).
In 2006, Patricio Ginelsa (Kid Heroes Productions) and AJ Calomay (Xylophone Films), who also produced and directed "The Apl Song" and the Filipino American action comedy movie, Lumpia were enlisted to make a music video for "Bebot".

Two different music videos for "Bebot" were filmed in early July 2006 and premiered online on August 4, 2006. One version, labeled "Generation Two" as a reference to its portrayal of second-generation Filipino-Americans, was filmed in various locations in Los Angeles, California, one location including Kenneth Hahn Park, where Dr. Dre's "Nothing But A G Thang" video was also filmed. Ginelsa has said that his intention was to make a "Nothing But A G Thang" for the Filipino-American community, only with a far lower budget and far less references to sex, drugs, and violence. "Generation Two" displays several modified import vehicles, or "rice rockets" that are prevalent in Filipino American youth culture. Filipino American street racing legend RJ de Vera, who hosted MTV's Trick It Out and also appeared in The Fast and the Furious, is seen alongside many of the vehicles.

The "Generation Two" video is included in the Black Eyed Peas' music DVD, "Live From Sydney to Vegas". Before the video was officially released online, it was played at a Black Eyed Peas concert at Araneta Colesium in Manila, Philippines as apl.de.ap performed the song.

The video begins with an introduction with Fergie and Taboo knocking on APL's house which then, his mom answers and starts to talk to them in a thick, heavy Filipino accent and then she asks Allan (Apl) to come down and starts to embarrass him and then his baby sister, Jasmine Trias (American I dol, season 3), comes and Fergie tells his mom they're just going to the park. The music begins and shows Apl, Fergie, Will.I.Am and Taboo in different colour backgrounds singing. It then shows Apl, Fergie, Will.I.Am, Taboo and his little sister singing at the park with girls and cars having a good time. The video finishes with Them at a house party singing in a group together.

Apl with sexy Charmane Star, Fil-Am
In this video, Jasmine Trias was featured playing apl.de.ap's "baby sister". Other Filipino-American celebrities appearing in either version of the video include DJ Rhettmatic of the Beat Junkies DJ crew , rap group Native Guns, mixed martial artist Brandon Vera, boxer Brian Viloria, Camile Velasco and Jose "Sway" Penala, adult industry's Charmane Star, Tila Tequila, amongst many others.

Nikon has launched the D90 (27 August’08), the world’s first DSLR camera with movie function allowing you to shoot HD720p (1,280 x 720 pixels), 640 x 424 pixels or 320 x 216 pixels movies at the professional smoothness of 24 frames per second in motion JPEG format. This 12.3 effective Megapixels DSLR also features 12.3 effective megapixels newly designed Nikon DX-format CMOS image sensor, Live View mode, IS0 200-3200, 4.5 frames per second continuous shooting, 11-point AF system, Image sensor cleaning, and a 3.0-inch 920,000 pixel (VGA x 3 colors) TFT-LCD.

Here's some video

By Chase Jarvis

Amsterdam, the Netherlands, 27 August 2008 – Nikon Europe today announces another great step forward in its mid-class DX-format D-SLR range: the D90. As the world’s first D-SLR with movie function, this remarkable camera offers truly cinematic results, stunning image quality and innovative high-performance features inherited from Nikon’s new-generation DX-format flagship D300. The D90 will open new doors for photography enthusiasts of any level.

With 12.3 megapixels, the newly-designed DX-format CMOS image sensor and Nikon’s proprietary EXPEED image processing concept, the D90 is a quality-guarantee. Advanced features such as Live View, Scene Recognition, Active D-Lighting, Picture Control and an ISO sensitivity range of 200-3200 (ISO 6400 equivalent on Hi1 and ISO 100 equivalent on Lo1), allows creativity in almost any setting. And to ensure all these features are easy to use, they are packed in an ergonomic body with an intuitive operational layout.

Toru Uematsu, Senior Manager Product Planning at Nikon Europe B.V says: “The D90’s combines imaging technology inherited directly from our D300 and innovative features like Live View, D-Movie, Scene Recognition and Picture Control - once again confirming Nikon’s leadership in cutting edge imaging technology. Add its innovative, high-performance features such as the CMOS image sensor, and the extremely wide ISO sensitivity range, we are convinced that this new camera will appeal to all passionate photographers looking for the next step in creativity.”

Stunning image quality
The D90’s EXPEED technology has been optimised to realise the high-quality, high-speed image processing capability for which Nikon’s professional D-SLRs are renowned. The D90 delivers images with extraordinary detail and expanded enlargement capacity, thanks to its improved DX-format CMOS image sensor and an effective 12.3 megapixels. The ISO sensitivity ranges from 200-3200 (ISO 6400 equivalent on Hi1 and ISO 100 equivalent on Lo1) providing low-noise images that are rich in detail and offer tonal gradation beyond expectation. It also enhances the performance of other powerful features such as Live View and the new Face Detection System. To address the issue of lost detail in high-contrast lighting situations, Active D-Lighting adjusts the contrast between images’ light and dark areas by localising tone control as an image is captured. And for extra creativity, Picture Control allows you to customise the look and mood of your images by choosing from six settings, including new Portrait and Landscape modes.

A helping hand
First introduced on Nikon’s D3 and D300 flagship cameras, the D90’s Scene Recognition System uses a 420-pixel RGB sensor to analyse scene and colour information of the subject being photographed. Based on these readings, the camera optimises its focus, exposure and white balance just before the shutter is released. The D90 also recognises human faces to render up to five faces with newfound sharpness and accuracy and more natural skin tones in your images. In the camera’s 11-point AutoFocus mode, it uses the subject’s colour information to maintain a sharp focus as the subject moves in the frame.

Once you’ve got the composition you want, the D90 incorporates image-editing functions that make it easy to enhance images within the camera. There are several new retouch options: ‘Distortion Control’ adjusts lens aberration, ‘Straighten’ corrects the inclination of the image, whilst ‘Fisheye’ produces optical effects similar to that of a fisheye lens. There are also ample options for viewing and selecting the right shot, including 72-frame playback, calendar playback and histogram display for a magnified portion of the image.

Live and living
The D90 is the first mid-class D-SLR to offer a movie function, allowing you to capture creative movie clips in motion JPEG at superb quality levels. Compared to the average camcorder, the far larger image sensor on the D90 offers higher image quality, a shallow depth of field and exceptional ISO performance while recording in low-light conditions. NIKKOR’s wide range of lenses offers great variety from fisheye to wide-angle to super-telephoto, adding more scope for creativity and emotional impact to your movies. Movies can even be played on the camera with sound, thanks to its uniquely powerful speaker / microphone system.

The D90 has been designed with an eye-level pentaprism viewfinder, offering some 96% frame coverage. However, when looking through the viewfinder isn’t practical, simply press the D90’s Live View button and the 3-inch LCD with 170? viewing angle and approx. 920k-dot LCD support your Live View shooting with three contrast-detect AF modes: Face Priority, Wide Area and Normal Area. When you’re not sure which camera settings are appropriate, try the advanced scene modes like Active D-Lighting and Picture Control for beautiful, crisp images every time.

Get every shot
There are few things more annoying than a flat battery as you’re about to capture that winning shot, so Nikon has made the D90’s extremely efficient, allowing you to capture approximately 850 images on a single charge of the camera’s battery. Accurate exposures rely on precise shutter release, so the D90’s electronically timed shutter mechanism has been specifically engineered for long, accurate service and has undergone exhaustive 100,000 shutter-release cycle testing. For ever-ready shooting, the impressive 0.15-seconds start-up time, 65-millisecond shutter release time and its 4.5 fps means you won’t lose that crucial shot. And with a thumbnail display of up to 72 images, Pictmotion slideshows with soundtrack, the option of image tagging through geotags with GPS, instant online upload to ‘my Picturetown’ and HDMI-compatibility, sharing and organising your images has never been easier.

The D90 will go on sale end September.

Nikon D90 Feature Highlights

Newly designed Nikon DX-format CMOS image sensor with wide ISO sensitivity range
The D90’s 12.3 effective megapixels provides outstanding resolution, delivering images with extraordinarily defined detail. The extremely wide sensitivity range of ISO 200 to 3200 delivers incredibly low-noise throughout which can be increased to Hi 1 (ISO 6400 equivalent) and decreased to Lo 1 (ISO 100 equivalent) to expand shooting versatility. The camera also employs an Image Sensor Cleaning function that works to free image-degrading dust particles from the sensor’s optical low-pass filter.

EXPEED for smooth tones, rich colours and fine details
Nikon’s comprehensive digital image-processing EXPEED technology is optimised for the D90 to realise the high-quality, high-speed image processing capability EXPEED also contributes to the outstanding performance of other powerful features such as Live View and the new Face Detection System.

D-Movie: the world’s first D-SLR movie mode
In a world first for D-SLRs, the D90 offers a movie function, allowing you to shoot HD720p (1,280 x 720 pixels), 640 x 424 pixels or 320 x 216 pixels movies at the professional smoothness of 24 frames per second in motion JPEG format. The D90’s sensor, which is much larger than the sensor of a typical camcorder, ensures higher image quality and exceptional low-noise, high ISO sensitivity performance, even during movie shooting. Capturing creative movie clips or the drama of life’s moving moments is further enhanced by the wide selection of incredibly sharp NIKKOR interchangeable lenses that are available, from fisheye to wide-angle to super-telephoto. And Micro NIKKOR lenses bring the magic of extreme close-up imagery to movie making.

Scene Recognition System integrated with Face Detection System
The D90 precisely reads the colours and brightness information of each scene from the 420-pixel RGB sensor, and applies this to auto focus, auto exposure and auto white balance. The D90 also recognises human faces using the new Face Detection System, data which is incorporated during calculation, resulting in faces with newfound definition and accuracy as well as enabling face priority AF in Live View mode and immediate zoom into people’s faces in playback zoom.

Easy-to-use Live View mode
One press of the Live View button activates the D90’s Live View mode, delivering a bright, crisp image to the 3-in., approx. 920k-dot colour LCD and allowing comfortable shooting without looking through the viewfinder. There are three contrast-detect AF modes that let you focus on any point in the frame: Face priority AF automatically detects up to five faces and focuses on that calculated to be the closest. Wide area AF offers a large AF area suitable for handheld shooting, and normal area AF provides focus with pinpoint accuracy when using a tripod. And when Nikon VR image stabilisation lenses are in use, photographers will enjoy the benefit of a VR-smoothed image, even in Live View mode.

Picture Control System: Customize the visual style of your images
Nikon’s Picture Control System enables users to customise the look and mood of images. Six original setting options are available — Standard, Neutral, Vivid, Monochrome, Portrait and Landscape — for easy customisation of image preferences.

Active D-Lighting for smooth tone reproduction in high-contrast lighting
The D90’s Active D-Lighting accurately restores details in the shadows and highlighted areas, which are often lost in high-contrast lighting situations, by localizing tone control while shooting. There are four levels, including the new “Extra High.” Active D-Lighting can be used manually or set to Auto mode. It is also possible to bracket your pictures, allowing the capture of one image with Active D-Lighting and one without.

Versatile, practical 11-point AF system
Thanks to the Multi-CAM 1000 autofocus module, the D90’s 11-point AF system offers fast and precise autofocus coverage across the frame with the most sensitive AF sensor operating from the centre. In addition, the D90 features versatile AF-area modes to handle most shooting situations: Single-point AF is recommended for stationary subjects, dynamic-area AF for moving subjects, auto-area AF for spontaneous shooting and 3D-tracking (11 points) AF for when you want to change the composition after focusing on your subject.

Bright pentaprism viewfinder featuring frame coverage of approx. 96%
The D90 has a precise eye-level pentaprism viewfinder with approximately 96% (centered) frame coverage and an easy-to-view 19.5 mm eyepoint (at -1.0 m-1). The built-in 16-frame superimposed grid display can be activated to assist in the creation of better-balanced compositions.

Advanced Scene Modes for superior image quality
The D90 features Advanced Scene Modes: Portrait, Landscape, Close-up, Sports and Night Portrait. These modes not only adjust exposure and image processing, but also judge the optimum Active D-Lighting and Picture Control settings to obtain the best results. The D90 also recognises if VR (Vibration Reduction) is on or off and minimises noise even in dimly lit scenes.

Extensive palette of in-camera Retouch Menus
The D90’s designers incorporated a wide variety of image editing functions, making it easy for users to enhance images within the camera. The D90 introduces several new retouch options: Distortion Control adjusts lens aberration, Straighten corrects inclination of the image, while Fisheye produces optical effects similar to a fisheye lens. Engineered for precision and durability Accurate exposures rely on precise shutters and the D90’s electronically timed shutter mechanism was specifically engineered for long, accurate service. To ensure this, D90 shutters, assembled in D90 bodies, underwent exhaustive 100,000 shutter-release cycle testing.

MANNY PACQUIAO's First Mission in Life - To Serve The Filipino People, Will Retire From Boxing in 2009, Will Enter Politics in 2010

Manny Pacquiao will hang his boxing gloves after 3 more fights probably in 2009 while he's at the top of his career. He doesn't want to suffer the same faith as seen with other boxers who had retired with an illness as a consequence or complications of boxing. He also wanted to spend more time with his family and finish his schooling. He also said that retiring in 2009 doesn't involve any politics which he plans to run for a political position in 2010. Here's an article written in Tagalog by Manny Pacquiao himself from Philboxing.com

God Bless Us All.

KAPUSO MO, JESSICA SOHO Featured Segment - WHEAT GRASS, DRAGON FRUIT & TALBOS - in Video - Aired August 30, 2008

"Aanhin ang damo kapag patay na ang kabayo" (What good is the grass if the horse's already dead), a Filipino proverb is truthful as it gets but the answer to this proverb is...turn grass into juice drink ! Wheat Grass, here's the video segment from 'Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho'

Wheatgrass refers to the young grass of the common wheat plant, Triticum aestivum, that is freshly juiced or dried into powder for animal and human consumption. Both provide chlorophyll, amino acids, minerals, vitamins, and enzymes. Claims about wheatgrass' health benefits range from providing supplemental nutrition to having unique curative properties. It is often available in juice bars, alone or in mixed fruit and/or vegetable drinks. It is also available in many health food stores as fresh produce, tablets, frozen juice and powder.

Dragon Fruit also known as Pitaya/Pitihaya, is the fruit of a cactus type genus Hylocereus (sweet pitayas). Pitayas are rich in fiber and minerals, notably phosphorus and calcium. It is also use by diabetics use as a food substitute for rice and as a source of dietary fibre.
